50 Candles for the Citroën 2CV

It was quite a surprise when Pia Dijkstra announced in the NOS-Journaal on Dutch Television that they had a subject about the "50 Candles for the 2CV" meeting in Paris. It was on Friday-night, May 22, 1998 at the 20:00 news....

It must have been some kind on Worldmeeting, the 2CV's kept on coming, and coming, and coming.... as far as your eyes can see. The "army" 2CV belongs to Henk Eijsing from Barneveld (NL).

Also an interview with Jean Etienne Souciet, the President of the organizing club Génération 2CV, who tells about the 2CV's history and that in the fifties people had to wait for years "...to get one. The production was stopped in 1990."

"Eight years later 3000 people from 24 countries came to Paris..."

" ... to celebrate the 50th birthday of the duck. Understood?"

And why should he have come to Paris? "For the 50th birthday of my best friend."

And then on the road again! Where to my friend? On to the Champs d'Elysees, no matter what's in the permit!
